Two young women were crushed to death by a 40-foot container at Odo-Olowu Bus Stop, Ijesha, along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos, on Friday night.
It was gathered that the empty container fell off a truck and crushed the two yet to be identified women to death around 10:45 pm.
Eye witnesses said emergency responders recovered their remains, which were later deposited in a mortuary.
According to sources at the scene, the container fell off when the truck which was conveying it suddenly suffered a brake failure and rammed into a stationary truck.
It was learnt that the driver of the truck sustained injuries in the incident.
Director-General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.
He said, “Two adult females lost their lives and their remains have been transported by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, (SEHMU), to the mortuary.”
