The councillor representing Ward 6 in the Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr Karma Agagowei, has been assassinated by yet to be identified gunmen.
It was gathered that the councillor was attacked and shot in the Opolo area of Yenagoa while returning from the ward congress of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday.
Sources disclosed that Agagowei was rushed to two hospitals in Yenagoa, but he was allegedly refused treatment due to the absence of a police report.
He eventually gave up the ghost due to the gunshot injuries sustained in the attack.
It was gathered that another person who was in a commercial tricycle with Agagowei when he was attacked also sustained injuries during the incident.
Agagowei was among 105 councillors who were elected during the state local government council election in August 2019.
