The House of Representatives may be in quandary at the moment as the embattled Minister of Niger Delta Affairs; Godswill Akpabio has denied his alleged claims that members of the National Assembly are major beneficiaries of contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

This came barely an hour after the lawmakers had resolved to sue the minister for perjury and defamation after failing to provide details of the claims he made while appearing before a panel investigation alleged corruption at the NDDC.

The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, who announced the receipt of Akpabio’s response, said the minister claimed to have referred to old contracts awarded by the NDDC which had not been paid for and some of which are part of the constituency projects of the lawmakers.

Gbajabiamila said Akpabio’s response would be referred to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges to look at the merits of the minister’s arguments.
