Plateau leads as Nigeria records 298 new COVID-19 cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced a total of 298 new COVID-19 infections in the country.

With the latest number of cases, Nigeria has now recorded a total 49, 068 cases so far.

The breakdown of the figure released by NCDC via its verified Twitter handle shows Plateau state leading the pack with 109 cases, while the Kaduna state trailed with 49 cases. Lagos state was despatched to third position with 47 cases.

Details of the number of cases recorded by each of the states on Sunday August 16, 2020 are contained below:

The release further showed that a total of 36, 497 persons have been discharged while the country has recorded 975 deaths so far.
