‎A trader identified as Emmanuel Egbu has landed in police net in Ibadan, Oyo State, after he was caught eating faeces in his shop.

It was gathered that Egbu, who has a thriving cosmetics business, and also sells Brazilian hair, was caught eating faeces with bread‎ inside his shop, which is located in the Sango area of Ibadan.

The incident happened on Saturday.

It is generally believed that Internet fraudsters, also known as ‘Yahoo boys’, usually eat human waste as part of their money-making rituals‎.

It was learnt that Egbu recently bought a house and rebuilt it in ‎the Sango area.

Eye witnesses disclosed that Egbu would have been lynched by a mob which gathered after he was discovered eating the faeces, if not for the arrival of the police, who in turn arrested him.

The Oyo State Police Command, which confirmed the development, said Egbu was in custody and is being investigated.

Police spokesman, ‎Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the ‎Divisional Police Officer in charge of Sango Police Station was investigating the matter. ‎‎

‎Fadeyi said, “The DPO told me that some people rescued the man from those who accused him of eating excreta and bread.

“They said they found some excreta which he packed inside a nylon bag. He was caught and taken to the police station.

“The DPO has taken over the case and the man is already in custody.

“He has begun investigation into the case and samples of what was found on him would be sent for laboratory analysis.‎

“He has taken the man’s statement also, and after the investigation at that level, the case will be sent to the State Criminal investigation Department at Iyaganku for further investigation.”‎
